This passage tells the history of the A-mber Room in the order of time so that we can clearly know what happened to it.Besides the passage uses the Past Tense.(So we can draw up some timeline to understand the story well.)
Year    What happened to the Amber Room
1716    In 1716,Frederick William I gave the Amber Room to Peter the Great,as a gift of friendship from Prussian to the Russian people.
1770     In 1770,the Amber Room was completed the way Catherine II wanted it.
1941     In september,1941,the Nazi German and Russia were at war and the Amber Room was missing.
2003      In the spring of 2003,a new Amber Room was rebuilt at the Summer Palace,by studying old photos.
A brief summary of the text
The Amber Room was made of almost seven thousand tons of amber.It was built in Prussia.Then, the king,Frederick William I,sent it to Peter the Great as a gift of friends-ship(1716).And it soon became part of the winter palace.Later,Catherine II had her artists add more details to its design(1770).In september,1941 the Nazi German army secretly stole the Amber Room and then it disappeared mystically.In the spring of 2003,a new Amber Room was rebuilt at the Summer Palace,by studying old photos to celebrate the 300th birthday of the city St Petersburg.

3.Frederick William I,the King of Prussia,could never have imagined that his greatest gift to the Russian people would have such an amazing history.
普鲁士国王威廉一世绝不可能想到他送给俄罗斯人们的厚礼会有这样一段令人惊讶的历史。
情态动词+have done (对过去发生的事实的推测）
1.昨天晚上一定下雨了，路上很泥泞。（must)

I saw Mr. Wang just now.He couldn;t have gone to Beijing.

句意：杰克的父亲很多年前一定非常勇敢，因此杰克把他父亲描述成一个意志坚强的人。由句中many years ago得知是对过去的推测，而B 项可能性很小，故被排除。

5.Later,Catherine II had the Amber Room moved to a palace outside St Petersburg where she spem her summer.

have/get sth done 有两层含义
1.使某事被做
你最好把那颗坏牙拔掉。

2.遭遇，经历（违背主语的意愿）
他的钱被偷了。
He had got his money stolen.
6.After that,what happened to the Amber Room remains a mystery.
从那以后，琥珀宫的下落便成了一个谜。
remain (1) vi.留下，遗留，残存
I went to the city,but my brother remained at home.
(2)link-verb.  后接n./adj./介词短语/表位置的adv.
My friend became a boss,but I remained a teacher.
The death of the old man remained unknown.
The problem remains to be discussed.

句意：该宫殿在上个世纪曾经经历了三次大伙，现在原始的建筑所剩无几。考查动词的时态语态，remain是不及物动词，没有被动式或进行时态。

【点拨】remain 意为“仍然是”，后接形容词作表语。prove 证明；maintain 维持；continue 继续
7.【观察】阅读下列句子，观察worth在句中的用法。
1.How much is the ring worth?
意思是“相当于...的价值”
2.The winner will receive $10 worth of books.
3.Their help was of great worth.
作名词，意思是“价值...的东西；作用，价值”
（1）be (well) worth sth./doing sth.(主动表被动）
（很）值得（费周折），（很）有价值
（2）be worth+钱数或相当于数的名词如price,much,well 来修饰而不用very或very much.
由一个句子作定语，修饰句中一个名词或代词，有时也可以修饰整个句子或句中的部分内容。
