1.appreciate
①.“欣赏,重视”
His talents are not fully appreciated in the company.
他的才干在公司未受到充分的赏识。

②.“感激,感谢”:“欢迎”
Your support is greatly appreciated.
十分感谢你的支持。
I don't appreciate being treated like that.
我不愿被人像那样地对待。

③.“理解,意识到”
We didn't fully appreciate that he was seriously ill.
我们没有充分认识到他的病情很严重。

2.Sometimes they play to passers-by in the street…
复合名词复数一般在主体名词后加s
lookers-on 旁观者
sons-in-law 女婿

※但是由man或woman构成的合成词,复数前后的词都要加复数，
men-doctors/women-servants
若无主体名词,则把s加在词尾。
grown-ups        forget-me-nots

3.as well as “也,还”之用法:
①连接主语时,谓语动词跟其前面主语保持一致
She as well as I is an English teacher.(是英语老师)
He as well as his friends is going shopping.

②连接并列成分,尤其是连接动词用法:
He publishes as well as prints his own books.
他的书是自己印刷并出版的。（时态）
She can sing as well as dance.
她既会跳舞也会唱歌。（情态动词）
You can't expect her to do the housework as well as look after the children.
你不可以叫她既照管孩子又做家务。（不定时）
